Vampire Knight Episode 13 Review
Final episode of the first season of the Vampire Knight anime is out, and honestly this series left something to be desired. It started out slightly above what you would expect but quickly degenerated into the typical love triangle drama crap. Vampire Knight episode 13 only hints at the real story, with Shizuka being nothing more than a camel hump.
In Vampire Knight episode 13 Madly Blooming Princess turns to star dust, Ichiro throws a fit because she wouldn’t turn him into a vampire, and Zero nearly becomes a level E. Kaname saves everything (again) by letting Zero suck some blood. Everyone seems to be trying to do shit for Yuuki who is still literally treated with all gender prejudices and absolutely clueless of almost everything. In fact, Yuuki’s only role as the main protagonist is to be the inner most desires of the conflicting interests around her. So far her presence has made negligible difference to…well…anything.
I was really really pissed when Zero didn’t die. See that would have made a decent climax for this anime, although according to wikipedia he has more of a role to play. The climax of Vampire Knight, such as it was, barely felt…climatic. We wallow through an entire season of emo-drama crap and all we get is Kaname stabbing the Mad Princess through the chest, Ichiru throwing a hissy fit and Zero getting a gourmet meal ticket.
I suppose one of the major problems of Vampire Knight is that actual direct combat is almost nonexistent. Yes there were a few scenes of fighting sprinkled here and there, generally with sub par animation, but nowhere do we get a good old down in the dirt fighting scene with all the supposed vampire powers and shit. The heavy crux of the conflict is either internal or emotional. I don’t know about you but that just makes things boring.
With Vampire Knight episode 13 wrapping things up, I gave this show a So-So rating on ANN. No it does not fucking deserve a higher rating. I don’t know about the manga, but they butchered this as an anime. If the Vampire Knight anime was actually true to the manga then I say this is one exception where a script rewrite would have been conducive towards entertainment. They should rename this Vampire Bishounen or some crap like that.
