Vampire Knight Episode 10 Review
Remarkably quickly, Maria/Shizuka and her part as the primary antagonist is revealed. They didn’t really do that good of a job at concealing her identity in the first place; in truth, I don’t think they even tried. The entire sequence of events unfolding just felt very unevenly paced. Vampire Knight episode 10 really inducts the main antagonist to the story, and adds a twist to the plot by bringing in Ichiru, Zero’s brother.
In Vampire Knight episode 10, Yuki has no book smarts. That doesn’t fit her image as a prefect. Zero has book smarts. That doesn’t fit his image as a rebel prefect. Whatever. Zero pretty much confesses some feelings for her, though I have no idea if Yuki interpreted it as such in the context of the anime.
Zero is drawn to Maria/Shizuka and gets owned, despite putting a bullet into her. Kaname knows who Shizuka is and clearly intends to keep his hands clean of this whole affair if he can. Fast forwarding, Yuki loses her memory cuz of Kaname, and gets it back cuz of Shizuka, and will undoubtedly do something foolish, like go looking for Zero who was nabbed by Shizuka for purposes unknown.
The meat of this episode was a flashback into the past of Zero and his family where they got shredded by Hiou Shizuka—apparently they killed her lover or something—who is out for revenge. The only thing that really struck me about the flashback was how gay he and his twin brother, Ichiru were. A touching reunion occurs for the fag twins at the end where Ichiru and Zero encounter each other once again. Ichiru, who for reasons left unexplained but probably relate to being tired of getting reamed in the ass, is in service with the pure blood Hiou Shizuka.
Honestly, Vampire Knight is getting boring. Vampire Knight episode 10 was poorly directed, poorly paced, and had a lot of elements that could have been ok if properly developed but weren’t. Their porcelain doll faces still annoy me. Yuki is starting to annoy me. Kaname is starting to annoy me. Shizuka hiding in another vampire girl’s body is starting to annoy me. There just aren’t any characters that you want to root for in this show. Zero is damned, so he’s out of the picture. Yuki…she just runs around playing the good in-between girl. Kaname doesn’t seem to be doing much except for making sure he isn’t hated by Yuki.
