Code Geass R2 Episode 8 Review

May 25th, 2008 Code Geass R2 by Clave

I was actually wondering about the end of the opening where Zero and the Order of the Black Knights are all standing in front of a huge crowd of people that I assumed were Japanese. At least Code Geass R2 episode 8 explains that. In continuation of episode 7, Zero somehow manages to make everyone else as questioning as he was about who they are and where they stand, and so on.

So, in Code Geass R2 episode 8, Lelouch manages to get his ass and that of a million others out of Japan, legally too—that has got to be a first. Suzaku lets them go in honor of both Euphemia and Nunnally’s wishes. Miss Lolli, Anya, comments that Suzaku must be a masochist, to return to where he is hated. I’m actually pretty certain there is a more specific term than masochism to describe what he is doing to himself right now, but for the life of me I can’t recall it.

The second prince, Schneizel reappears and apparently wants to at least respect Euphemia’s will, though I believe he has alternative motives for his actions. He took in Bat Shit Crazy Euphemia-Obsessed Glasses Girl whose last mad experiment failed. At this point I think Cornelia is the only character with any significance whatsoever that still hasn’t made an appearance. Or at least confirmed to be dead.

Nunnally is starting to look more appropriately powerless. Suzaku at her side has to be really freaking dense if he still doesn’t realize that Zero is actually Lelouch now.

Lloyd is back—love the guy—along with his assistant Cecille. Seriously, what the hell was with that outfit? It’s like she was preparing for a seduction.

Then finally, the one million Zeros. It is hard for me not to feel that it somewhat ripped off V for Vendetta though I will admit this is not an unheard of effect in literature. Code Geass R2 episode 8 takes a new turn as Lelouch and the Order of the Black Knights take off voluntarily into exile on an iceberg. I guess they’ll be back, or they’ll attack Britannia’s heartland. Either way we’ll find out soon enough.
