Code Geass R2 Episode 12 Review

June 29th, 2008 Code Geass R2 by Clave

I never really thought about it this way, but if Lelouch were not so hell bent on destroying Britannia he could be getting a shitload of pussy with the Geass. Hell, even without the Geass, he could get all the action he wanted. Code Geass R2 episode 12 was a large assortment of gags with just enough story progression thrown in to make you antsy. And btw, has anyone noticed that only complete flunkies for characters stay dead in this anime?

I’m just going to start with the big eye popper. We find out what is meant by Orange-kun being the means to defeat C.C.—he gets a “Geass Canceller.” Not a bad twist to the story and rather logical when you think about it. They did bust the Geass placed on Lelouch by the emperor in episode 1. However Code Geass R2 has enough shit going on as it is without another wild card being tossed in right now—that wild card being a cutie who is totally in love with the main protagonist. It was messed up enough the first time around, and now I’m even more skeptical if they’ll wrap Code Geass up with the second season. Even for the phenomenally fast pace of Code Geass this is a lot of content to cover effectively.

So the last of the cast missing from season 1 returns. Cornelia pops out of nowhere in that strange desert that has something to do with the Geass and its users. Cornelia has discovered the secret behind the Geass (somehow) and is intent on vindicating Euphemia and her death.

We get to see a bit of a royal family get together with the rest of Lelouch’s siblings near the beginning of Code Geass R2 episode 12. Out of that litter only Schneizel and Lelouch really seem to have any capacity for real leadership, and maybe Cornelia with some prowess in combat leadership. Two of the princesses are complete douches, although the rest of them, including Odysseus, actually turned out alright. We also get a quick look at the Knight of One. Wonder if we’ll ever get to see him fight.

The rest of Code Geass R2 episode 12 was just gags which were fairly amusing in themselves. Miss Lolli really took the cake. But the direction they set the story is just…blah. I really hope we don’t have a repeat of season 1. That was horribly gut wrenching.
