Code Geass R2 Episode 11 Review
Code Geass R2 episode 11 was an interesting amalgamate of action, human drama, and comedy that made it better than a mixed berry yogurt smoothie. Toss in some real story progression and C.C. and you get an episode that somewhat redeems Code Geass R2 as a series so far. Bear with me, this will be relatively long.
So. The action. Yeah. It was spotty. Parts of it were really good but some of it was like Rental Magica’s shit for animation. I’m going to include Lelouch/Zero’s absurd arm waving movements whenever he makes a proclamation or is feeling significantly nefarious under “action.” It would really be a total waste otherwise considering that his Arm Dance for Dorks was done mostly in the cockpit of the Shinkirō, and unless his knightmare frame descends to the same plane of retardation, I don’t think anyone in the anime was privy to his facetious ego demonstration.
Oh yeah. Shinkirō. So they bust out something new again. You can draw parallels from Zero’s new Knightmare Frame to Anya’s (Miss Pink Hair Camera Stalker Lolli) Mordred, which happens to have a bunch of cannons and missiles and whatever and some “hard” shield. My point? Zero fights like a girl. But we knew that C.C. was the one wearing the pants in the relationship—pants that show a lot of leg.
Code Geass R2 episode 11’s epic battle where Zero once again gains the divine Athenian abilities of war succeeds in keeping the Order of the Black Knight’s from being trivially slaughtered(duh), but only because Schneizel magnanimously left the field. It was, perhaps, the logical story sequence since they have to show Lelouch get wtfpwned by his older brother at least once, but it was too early in the season to do so. All in all it was a Pyrrhic victory.
I was flipping through a dictionary and doing google searches trying to find the word that describes a child who wants someone much older than themselves for a lover. See, you call the older people that want children pedophiles. There’s gotta be a reverse term for this. Anyways yeah. Xingke ends up on Zero’s side and Tianzi wants his balls. What is she, fourteen, fifteen? Less?
It was kind of amusing that Lelouch had to call Shirley just to decide whether or not to have Tianzi marry a Jap, followed by more arm waving. You’ll notice he had the brains not to suggest himself as the groom. Wise man. You’ll also notice which side all the women were on.
Zero’s constant disagreement with Diethard might be setting something up. A betrayal perhaps?
Sayako’s random impersonation of Lelouch was just arbitrary. I’d nearly forgotten about her. This was just kind of…out of the blue. They’re really pulling shit out of their ass.
And finally C.C. gets more screen time in Code Geass R2 episode 11 other than sitting around looking hot. She even strips out of her normal uniform for us. C.C. gets a nasty brain shock when she attacked Miss Lolli where I’m assuming she saw Lelouch and Nunally’s past, and Zero reveals his plans to expose the witch network in China. Finally the real shit is going down. Can’t wait.
Oh yeah, I forgot Kallen. She’s trussed up like a goat because the ball-less eunuchs couldn’t use her for anything else. Gurren too.
Like all really famous Japanese entertainment franchises, Code Geass has games, alternate retellings, and a whole lieu of other shit that I really want to check out but probably never will. I need to pick up Japanese one of these days. Anyways, Code Geass R2 is picking up speed again, although I think they’re going to throw in some not so important junk for the next couple of weeks.
