Code Geass R2 Episode 10 Review

June 15th, 2008 Code Geass R2 by Clave

Code Geass R2 episode 10 sticks us straight into the action as Lelouch is hightailing it after having crashed a wedding. Once again, we are faced with a plan that was proceeding smoothly when a wrench was thrown in the gears, by Xing Ke. Lelouch is starting to give himself a bad name by screwing up yet another one of his schemes. At least this way it’s believable that Lelouch is still at Ashford Academy. Btw wtf?

Tianzi is not the “oh I’ve been controlled and repressed my entire life but have more strength than you might think” type empress. She is the “I’m totally a figurehead like my positions suggests” ruler. I don’t know how serious they meant the part where Kaguya teases Tianzi about Xing Ke. No accounting for tastes.

Kallen gets worked by Xing Ke and his Shen Hu, which I believe means divine (or godly) tiger. Apparently it was something Rakshata and her team developed way back when, and is now being used to plague Lelouch in the side.

Kallen gets captured like a good little wench. Lelouch makes the noble declaration of saving her and gets worked by Xing Ke strategically as a result. They start running for the hills while the Chinese Federation is talking shit about their mama’s. Does it strike anyone that every time it looks like Zero is about to lose they happen to have yet another bolt hole somewhere for a last minute save?

Code Geass R2 episode 10 makes me believe C.C. has hinged her bets o a losing cause. Now Lelouch is trapped in a rat hole, he needs to make a phone call, and…somehow he reappears in Ashford Academy. His ability to instantaneously teleport aside, Zero is losing his luster.

Code Geass R2 episode 10 at least keeps the pace up and the sight of Zero getting shown for a tool wasn’t bad entertainment. Zero will probably make some sort of call/deal/alliance with Xing Ke, wipe out a good chunk of the Chinese Federation’s army, and proceed on the path of patricide.

Ya know, they’ve been kind of exchanging looks like that throughout the series. Every time Kallen and Lelouch are getting kind of close, C.C. pops up. This time was a reversal of the roles. They really downplay the drama in this, with only a few tidbits here and there.

As it is, I’m not altogether convinced that Lelouch and C.C. will get “together” anymore. I’m not really even sure if i care if they do have some kind of huge dramatic touchy feely ending anymore.

    Anyways, it’s all good :).
