Itazura na Kiss Episode 5 Review

May 03rd, 2008 Itazura na Kiss by Clave

So super clutz Kotoko and super genius Naoki once again gather around to play, this time with friends! I really feel for Naoki when he gets pestered by the entirety of the F class into helping them study. I don’t think I would have done it. The truth of the matter is, many of them probably could have don reasonably well on their own if they had simply kept up with their studying throughout their school years. Their failure isn’t the system’s fault, or Fate, or Naoki. It is their own damn fault and I would laugh when they crashed and burned. Ok, so maybe I would have helped Kotoko, but not everyone else.

Itazura na Kiss seems to take several leaps through time every other episode. Considering it is only episode 5 at the moment I’m wondering when they’ll start going into a fixed story arc. Itazura na Kiss is enjoyable so far, but if they don’t give me some real substance, they’re going to lose me soon.

Itazura na Kiss episode 5 is about class F finally facing up to the responsibility of their irresponsibility. Good thing for them, the fateful angel Irie Naoki is there to haul their hefty asses across the finish line. Except for Kin-kun, he has pride. And we all saw what that got him. Bloody fool. Due to Naoki’s brilliance everyone passes and is happy, blah, blah, blah, Kotoko and Naoki have a decent heart to heart conversation.

This conversation in Itazura na Kiss episode 5 about the future, college, and their dreams is actually reasonably deep. I was quite impressed. It didn’t have too much of the usual jargon that flies around in anime trying to be deep, although we all know that the real purpose of college is to party. So technically, deep or not, Kotoko was wrong.

Anyways, while we all know Itazura na Kiss’s final destination as an anime, where it is going immediately next is unknown. No I do not watch the previews at the end of each episode, I don’t see the point in ruining something for myself that I might not want ruined.
